How have trainings been?
We hope that while you are unfortunately being buried by the ceaseless amount of work and studies, there is still time to unwind and vadiar (linger) with capoeira!
Like most of you, the lines, "Eu sou capoeira, com muito orgulho, com muito amor" still linger in my mind as I recall the workshop we had with Professor Parabolica early this month.
It was extremely good to see Professor Parabolica here for the weekend to give a workshop. It seems as though the capoeira bug has attacked us (gladly) once again due to his presence! In addition to teaching us some simple but effective exercises through movimentos and sequencias in capoeira, it was inspiring to hear Prof Parabolica speak about the many aspects of capoeira including the music, songs and philosophy of capoeira.
"The important thing," he says, as he prepares to play the berimbau for the roda, "is to be happy wherever you do capoeira".
Muito obrigada, professor! We look forward to learning more from you soon!
Thank you also to all everyone for attending! It was certainly a wonderful reunion of capoeiristas from a very varied bunch! To sing and jogo together in the roda irrespective of gender, race, age, or grupo was good and hopefully we can enjoy such encounters in the future! Thank you to our old members for returning, to Instrutor Pixote from Mestre Sorriso's Grupo Senzala, and to the NUS Grupo Xango capoeiristas for travelling all the way from Singapore to train with us! Hopefully we will meet again in future rodas!
May we improve in our capoeira!
